It is named after the city of [[Padang]], the capital of the West Sumatra province. A miniature banquet of meats, fish, vegetables, and spicy [[sambal]]s eaten with plain white rice, it is Sumatra's most famous export and the [[Minangkabau people]]'s primary contribution to [[Indonesian cuisine]].

ナシパダン、またはパダンライスとも呼ばれるこの料理は、インドネシア、西スマトラ州発祥のミナンカバウ料理で、様々に調理済みの料理を添えた蒸しご飯である。西スマトラ州の州都パダン市にちなんで名付けられた。肉、魚、野菜、辛いサンバルなどを添えたミニ宴会で、白いご飯と一緒に食べる。スマトラ島で最も有名な輸出品であり、ミナンカバウ族インドネシア料理に最も貢献したものである。
