産業上の利用 石けん の製造に使われ、化粧品として、また金属石けん の場合は潤滑剤として使われる。脂肪酸はまた、メチルエステルを介して脂肪アルコール や脂肪アミン に変換され、これらは界面活性剤、洗剤、潤滑油の前駆体となる。その他の用途としては、乳化剤 、テクスチャー付与剤、湿潤剤、消泡剤 、または安定化剤としての使用が挙げられる。
