開放循環系 節足動物 において、開放循環系とは、血液と間質液を区別することなく、血液腔 と呼ばれる空洞 の中の液体が直接臓器に酸素と栄養を供給するシステムである。運動 中の動物の筋肉運動は、血液リンパ の移動を促進することができるが、ある領域から別の領域への流れを迂回させることには限界がある。心臓が弛緩すると、血液は開口した孔（ostia）を通って心臓の方へ引き戻される。
