語源 グリーン カレーという名前は、料理の色に由来している。この色は、緑色の唐辛子からきているのだ。タイ語の名称に含まれる「甘い」（หวาน 、wan は「甘い」を意味する）は、カレーの味ではなく、特定の色である緑そのものを指している。このタイカレー はココナッツミルクと生の緑唐辛子をベースにしているため、色はクリーミーな薄緑色になる。この色はタイ語で「甘い緑」（เขียวหวาน khiao-wan ）と呼ばれているのである。
