パントテン酸カルシウムとデキスパンテノール（D-パンテノール）は、欧州食品安全機関（EFSA）により動物飼料への添加物として承認されている。豚には8～20 mg/kg、家禽には10～15 mg/kg、魚には30～50 mg/kg、ペットには8～14 mg/kgの飼料を与える。これらは推奨濃度であり、必要量と考えられている値よりも高めに設定されている。飼料を補給することにより、ヒトが消費する組織、すなわち肉や、卵のパントテン酸濃度が上昇するという証拠もあるが、消費者の安全性に懸念はない。
