緩和策と炭素市場 第6条は、パリ協定の主要な規定の一部を含むものとして注目されている。大まかに言えば、締約国が自国の炭素排出量削減 を達成するためにとることができる協力的なアプローチ の概要を述べている。そうすることで、パリ協定をグローバルな炭素市場の枠組みとして確立するのに役立っている。第6条は、協定の唯一の重要な未解決部分である。2019年の交渉 では結果が出なかった。この問題はグラスゴーでの2021年COP26 で解決された。「対応調整」というメカニズムが、排出オフセットの二重計上を避けるために確立された。
