異所性脂肪 異所性脂肪とは、脂肪組織以外の肝臓 、骨格筋 、心臓 、膵臓 など、本来は少量の脂肪しか含まないはずの組織にトリグリセリド が蓄積することである。これは細胞機能、ひいては臓器機能を阻害する可能性があり、2型糖尿病におけるインスリン抵抗性と関連している。腹腔 の臓器の周囲に比較的多く蓄積されるが、内臓脂肪と混同されることはない。
