Two members of the family of transporter proteins encoded by the genes [[Thiamine transporter 1|SLC19A2]] and [[Thiamine transporter 2|SLC19A3]] are capable of thiamine transport. In some tissues, thiamine uptake and secretion appear to be mediated by a Na&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;+&amp;lt;/sup&amp;gt;-dependent transporter and a transcellular proton gradient.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
