Korean temple cuisine originated in Buddhist temples of Korea. Since [[Buddhism in Korea|Buddhism]] was introduced into Korea, [[Buddhist]] traditions have strongly influenced Korean cuisine, as well. During the [[Silla]] period (57 BCE&amp;amp;nbsp;– 935 CE), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;chalbap&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (찰밥, a bowl of cooked [[glutinous rice]]) &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[yakgwa]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (a fried dessert) and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[yumilgwa]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (a fried and puffed rice snack) were served for Buddhist altars and have been developed into types of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;hangwa&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, Korean traditional [[confectionery]]. During the [[Goryeo]] period, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Ssam|sangchu ssam]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (wraps made with lettuce), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[yaksik]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;yakgwa&amp;#039;&amp;#039; were developed, and since spread to China and other countries. Since the Joseon dynasty, Buddhist cuisine has been established in Korea according to regions and temples.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
