Folinic acid is given following [[methotrexate]] as part of a total chemotherapeutic plan, where it may protect against [[bone marrow suppression]] or gastrointestinal mucosa inflammation. No apparent effect is seen on pre-existing methotrexate-induced [[nephrotoxicity]].
